What are busbars?

Busbars are electrical conduits which cannot be bent like cables but consist of pre-conditioned standardized pieces which are a flexible and space-saving solution for all energy transportation and distributon needs. The company Stangl Stromschienenmanagement is especially active in the segment of workshop systems, office buildings and industrial manufacturing.

The Benefits of Busbars

The decision for busbars is a great simplification starting with the planning stages. The limits of the current carrying capacity of cables depends on outer properties such as operating temperature and installation methods. The current carrying capacity as well as other reduction factors of busbars are solely dependent on the model of busbar chosen and can be planned without further computation.

The assembly planning of busbar trunking systems is substantially easier, faster and less expensive compared to the planning of cable strands. Tap off sockets are at regular intervals and only have to be activated through a tap off plug. Therefore adaptations and changes are trouble free and inexpensive during assembly as well as after completion of a system.

Cables are usually made of copper. With the rising cost for copper the cable will get likewise expensive. The busbars are made of aluminium optional copper. Through the fast tracked planning together with the effortless and rapid assembly costs are reduced.

Busbars have a greatly reduced fire load. Especially in new buildings busbars can be shielded against fire and smoke, since the planning of the busbar allows to leave out the needed channels during the manufacturing of the concrete elements. Therefore it is possible for built in smoke curtains, which ensure a close link from the cellar up to the roof.
